In Nelson Mandela's early life
he had been born in a small village named Qunun and had been adopted after
his father had passed by Chief Jongintaba Dalindyebo. Under Chief
Jongintaba's care had been ensured a quality education and even
attended The University College of Fort Hare which had been one of the
most prestigious universities in all of South Africa. It was from there Nelson
Mandela got his start in becoming a political activist. When he had been
inducted into the Student Representative Counsel he and the majority rest of
the group didn't agree with the lack of power and responsibility they had
received and they voted to boycott unless their demands were met. Unfortunately
as result of Mandela participating in the boycott because it was the first time
he had ever stood up for humanity he as result had been introduced to a yearly
suspension as a punishment. Soon after Mandela was imprisoned after becoming a
member of ANC (African National Congress) due to the conviction that he was
trying to overthrow the South African government by successfully ending the
Apartheid. Which at that time had been a racial segregation system used in
South Africa. When he was released from prison on February 11, 1990. A year
later he had been elected President of ANC as a reward for sacrificing the
precious years of his life for standing up for humanity. He became well known
all across South Africa and later around the world as a Global Activist. He
also participated in forming various charitable organizations one of which
spoke out about the AIDS virus and raised awareness as a tribute to his son who
had passed from the ailing disease back in 2005. Nelson Mandela also published
several books depicting his political journey. Today they are known as the
"Long walk to freedom”, "Struggle is my life" and "Favorite
African Folktales".
